Shared Ambition
Objective
Establishing a structured dialogue between Shared Ambition as the franchisor and the affiliated franchisees. With the arrival of a franchise council, the franchisor gains a sounding board and a spokesperson, while the franchisees receive a consistent 'outlet' for their wishes and ideas. If well organized, this contributes to the success of this successful franchise organization.
Challenge
The challenge was to take the next step in professionalizing internal communication by establishing a franchise council and mobilizing franchisees to take responsibility.
About Shared Ambition
Shared Ambition specializes in work-related psychological health. The psychologists advise and support organizations that aim to manage themes such as health management and vitality, striving to structurally reduce psychological absenteeism. Shared Ambition helps employees maintain or regain their mental balance.
The franchise organization was founded in 2001 based on a motivation study with the question: ‘What motivates people in their work’? The answer was that people want to belong, contribute, and develop. Through a process of awareness, Shared Ambition provides employees with insights into their possibilities and qualities. By continually developing with the help of, among other things, the ‘Shared Academy’, they aim to further professionalize and attract new clients.
Our Approach
At the time of starting the franchise council, approximately 50 franchisees were affiliated. To further professionalize internal communication and consultation, it was decided to establish a franchise council. Koelewijn & Partners was asked to assist Shared Ambition in this.
Several steps were taken to initiate the franchise council:
First, we delved into the matters of Shared Ambition to advise on the appropriate form, content, and structure for a franchise council.
During a franchisee meeting, a foundation was created for establishing the franchise council, and a preparatory committee was formed consisting of 5 franchisees and the franchisor. We drafted a concept franchise council regulation as input for this committee. After two meetings, the franchise council regulation was approved by the preparatory committee, ready to be sent to all franchisees for approval. It was agreed that the franchise council regulation would be approved by reaching a two-thirds majority of the votes cast by the franchisees. A digital survey was conducted by us. Ultimately, almost 100% were in favor of the franchise council regulation, after which the election of the franchisee members for the franchise council was initiated.
After receiving 7 candidates to participate in the franchise council, the final election was held during the next franchisee meeting. The 7 nominated franchisees were given the opportunity to pitch themselves, after which the 5 franchisees with the most votes were elected in a successful and inspiring meeting!

The franchise council has been enthusiastically established within the intended timeframe with members who are eager to get started!
